Tips before you move

Electrical Equipment
Dishes, washing machines, and other installed electrical equipment should be disconnected by a qualified professional. Also disconnect computers, TVs, and other electrical devices.
Valuables
All valuables, such as jewelry, bank books, and cash, should be moved by you. Also, take any medications with you. (We are not responsible for valuables.)
Fixed Furnishings
Dismantle shelves and cabinets that are mounted on the wall yourself.
Curtains
We ask that you take down curtains, drapes, etc. yourself. Hang them over, for example, the back of a chair, and we will take care of them.
Garden tools
Empty all garden tools of gasoline and oil, clean them as well as you can.
Groceries
We recommend that you empty the refrigerator and freezer before the move.
Bicycles
Label bicycles, strollers, and similar items that are in common areas.
Potted plants
We do not take responsibility for flowers and potted plants. In winter, they can easily freeze, especially during longer transports.

Packing tips for your move

Stack boxes three at a time. Label each box on the short side.

Pack china (plates and glasses) on edge with packing paper in between.

Don’t pack too heavy. Don’t fill a box completely with books. Leave half the space for pillows, clothes, or similar items.

Roll up all rugs and tie them together.

All cables for the TV, video, stereo, etc., should be unplugged and rolled up. Secure them with tape.

Take down all loose shelf parts and tape them together.

Mirrors, paintings, and chandeliers should be well-packaged in boxes or with cardboard or similar materials. Remove all light bulbs.

Bundle skis, curtain rods, brooms, and similar items into easily carryable packages.

Don’t pack heavier than what you can carry.

Everything that fits in a moving box should be packed in one.

All mattresses, sofas, and armchairs should be wrapped in plastic.
